A creative and collaborative space for women who have survived interpersonal abuse.

A creative and collaborative space for women who have survived interpersonal abuse.

The Brave Women’s Community Center supports women who have experienced interpersonal abuse by providing trauma-informed, evidence-informed creative and relational programming. Through expressive arts practices, peer-based support, and structured group experiences, we help participants recognize harmful patterns, rebuild self-trust, and strengthen resilience. Our work complements crisis and clinical services by offering restorative, preventative spaces that foster connection, agency, and long-term healing.

Bravery
We support women in developing the courage to face challenges, interrupt harmful patterns, and take meaningful steps toward healing and self-direction.
Community
We cultivate respectful, supportive relationships grounded in mutual responsibility, accountability, and care.
Creativity
We use expressive and imaginative practices as tools for insight, resilience, and personal growth.
Playfulness
We believe playfulness supports regulation, learning, and connection, and we integrate it intentionally into our work to promote engagement and emotional safety.
Collaboration
We value cooperation, shared leadership, and co-creation, recognizing that healing happens in relationship.
Integrity and Safety
We are committed to trauma-informed practices that prioritize emotional safety, clear boundaries, and ethical facilitation.
These values guide our programming and decision-making as we create spaces that are structured, relational, and responsive. Our goal is to offer environments where women can build trust, strengthen their sense of self, and engage in meaningful personal and collective growth within a supportive community.

At The Brave Women’s Community Center, we envision a world where women who have experienced abuse are no longer isolated or silenced, but supported in rebuilding their lives with dignity, agency, and connection.
We envision communities where survivors heal in relationship, where collaboration replaces competition, and where creative, trauma-informed practices support long-term resilience and well-being.
As we grow, our vision extends beyond Colorado to the development of a network of community-based centers that complement clinical and crisis services by offering restorative, preventative, and relational spaces for healing.
Through this work, we aim to redefine survivor empowerment as accessible, sustainable, and rooted in both compassion and accountability.

Abuse does not always look the same. It can be overt and visible, or subtle and difficult to name. Many women question whether what they’ve experienced “counts.” If you have been controlled, diminished, silenced, or harmed — in ways that affected your sense of safety, autonomy, or self-worth — you may be a survivor.
Abuse can take many forms, including but not limited to:
Abuse can also occur within many types of relationships, including:
Regardless of its form or source, abuse can leave lasting impacts. At the same time, it does not define who you are or what is possible for your life.
At The Brave Women’s Community Center, we believe every survivor deserves access to a safe, supportive, and creative community: one that fosters healing, connection, collaboration, and long-term well-being.

The Brave Women’s Community Center is a trauma-informed creative healing center for women who have experienced abuse, coercive control, and long-term psychological harm. We offer a restorative, community-based space to rebuild voice, identity, agency, and meaning after the immediate crisis has passed.
Healing here is not rushed. It is relational, embodied, and deeply human.
Through trauma-informed creative practices — including therapeutic improv, storytelling, movement, expressive writing, and guided community experiences — women are supported in moving beyond coping and toward integration, expression, and growth.
This is a space where women can:
BWCC is not a crisis center.
It is not clinical treatment alone.
And it is not performative empowerment.
It is a place for deep repair, integration, and becoming: grounded in mutual respect, accountability, and care.
We believe healing happens in community, not hierarchy. We believe creativity is not a luxury, but a pathway back to self. And we believe survivors deserve spaces where they are not only safe, but seen, heard, and supported in becoming whole.
If you have survived abuse and are ready to move beyond survival, you belong here.
Brave Hearts Speak is a storytelling movement and podcast from The Brave Women’s Community Center that amplifies the real voices of women who have lived through abuse, trauma, and silencing — and are now reclaiming their truth through creativity and courage.
Through raw conversations, artistic expression, and survivor-led storytelling, we explore what it means to heal, to find your voice again, and to live bravely after everything tried to quiet you.
This is not about perfection or polish — it’s about honesty, heart, and the power of women speaking what was once unspoken.

Many survivors reach a point where they want to use their voice—sharing their story, stepping into advocacy or leadership, or simply allowing themselves to be seen more fully. That stage can be empowering… and it can also bring fatigue, vulnerability, and emotional aftershock.
In this live Zoom session, survivor-speaker Kaylin Polk shares her lived experience healing after human trafficking and sexual assault, and how she began speaking, what helped her stay grounded, what didn’t work, and how she learned to protect her healing while using her voice.
As we expand our offerings and work towards our dream, we are looking for volunteers who are passionate about empowering women and girls through creative arts and holistic practices. If you feel aligned with our vision, we would be honored to have you join our efforts. Whether you’re drawn to working with music, art, yoga, theatre, or any other area of our programming, we welcome your talents and enthusiasm.
If you feel called to serve with us, please contact us at info@bravewomenscommunity.com Every contribution makes a significant impact, and we are excited to welcome new members to our community.
